Li joined the Ludwig Center at Stanford University to investigate cancer and its treatment from the perspective of stem-cell biology and medicine.

Li accepted an offer from the Department of Biology and the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine to launch the Human Brain Development Lab at Stanford University in October 2025.
